Mildred Agounie, a First Nations artist, uses her incredible skill as a tufter and quill artist in this piece in order to create an incredibly lifelike cardinal that rests on a small tree branch. While tufting is an incredibly difficult technique, as are the techniques used to create the intricate designs on the side walls, Mildred did not stop the tufting with the cardinal, instead using the same technique to give the needles of the tree a third dimension. We hope you enjoy this incredible piece!
