A look back...

Rediscovering an older story about how we started our business some 38 years ago. It could be titled "Time Flies When You're Having Fun".

Winter “Curve Balls”; Spring is coming soon!

It’s March already and Daylight Savings Time is here for most of us. We have had a real winter in Vermont with some of the best ski conditions that the area has seen in years, and now many locals are out in the maple woods working hard at Sugaring Season!
Many of you know that Grant has spent the past 35 winters working part time at our local mountain on the Ski Patrol. We were hit by a curve ball at the end of January when he tore his Achilles Tendon at work on the mountain.  He had surgery on February 6 and has been recovering since, missing most of a great ski season in addition to being out of the photography studio for a few weeks.
Despite this unexpected turn of events, new art has continued to arrive, and Grant has worked his way back to the studio (albeit on a knee scooter!).

We have added over 50 new Zuni fetish carvings to the website by some of our favorite artists including Stewart Quandelacy, Eddington Hannaweeke, Lynn and Jayne Quam and Ruben Najera (check out the Sandhill Crane!).

There are new jewelry offerings in many price ranges as well. Remember that jewelry and fetish carvings ship for free!

The beautiful Male Coho Salmon pictured above was carved from whale bone by Alaskan Native artist Pelo Demeintieff. It comes from a private collection that also includes an extraordinary King Salmon Fish Skin Basket made by Non-Native artist Frances Ann Reed in 1993. Ms. Reed - a self taught artist in the form of tanning and utilizing fish skins - went on to teach many Native Alaskan women this process, revitalizing an important art form. We are honored to have one of her pieces in our collection.
Our family continues to be involved in our business. Daughter Ellie has taken over the management of social media projects, so if you haven’t, check out her posts on Instagram and Facebook pages.
We are always happy to answer questions by phone (802-362-3435), email or text.
Thank you for your continued support and don’t forget that Spring is almost here!
   Warm Regards,
   Betsy and Grant
