Caribou Pin/Pendant by Denise Wallace, #60/200
Denise's description is this: "This design represents a caribou transformation. The caribou has a mask that opens to reveal a human face underneath. The idea is that the animals have a similar spirit to us, which is depicted as a human face (the yua, or inua). This piece also has the bladder design. A bladder often appears because it is believed to be the area of the animal that holds the spirit." Limited Edition #60/200.
About 2" wide; 2.25" tall. This classic piece wears beautifully as a horizontal pendant, and makes a great lapel pin.
Sterling Silver, Fossilized Walrus Tusk, Lapis Lazuli, Ink
